For those who haven’t heard about the latest Christmas craze, Zhu Zhu Pets are the Tickle Me Elmo’s of 2009. The little electronic hamsters are number one on the Christmas lists of children across the United States.
The small supply will have parents beating one another to make sure this holiday hot item is placed under the tree from Santa and that their kids are all smiles on Christmas morning.
The adorable, somewhat creepy life-like creatures have been sold out in toy stores like Toys ‘R’ Us and major department stores like Walmart and Target. My 8-year-old sister managed to get a few members of this hamster family before the shortage and continuously has my parents searching for the latest accessories to accommodate Mr. Squiggles, PipSqueak, Num Nums, Chunk and Patches.
Although Christmas shouldn’t be a time to focus on material objects, one can’t help but get anxious to buy presents for our little loved ones who still believe in the magic of the North Pole, Santa and his reindeer.
I’ll be one of the crazy people ready to trample over everyone to snatch up a hamster-mobile and garage, sleep dome and hamster funhouse on Black Friday. Watch out, I’ll have my shopping bags ready to smack anyone who gets in my way.
Call me a devoted sister or psychotic nutcase; either way, I’m making sure my little sister gets what she wants for Christmas.
