I would say everything, but that would be biased and the whole point of The Press is to be objective.
Everyone needs to know how to write. To know how to construct a subject-object-verb skin with a who-what-where-when-why-how back bone makes you much more marketable for any career.
Participating in The Press is like drinking ginger tea when you’re sick. The rush of clarity when interviewing an administrator or a student may cause stutters and shaky notes, but the end product is a page full of scribble that is yours. This product is something you type up, insert your voice and mail to your family when the issue is printed.
The only math that is involved is the word count of your story. The only memorization is the time and place to show up for the concert you are reviewing. The only, and I mean figuratively, object you have to dissect is the person you are interviewing.
It’s proving to your parents that you are not wasting away in your room. It’s proving that you can operate outside of your comfort zone.
So what’s so good about The Pace Press? Trying something new.
