Something is lacking in Lackmann

There are two weeks left in the semester and I, along with many other University students, still have a lot of money left on the meal plan. This situation exists despite the fact I have used my card to feed my parents, co-workers and even my friends when they come to visit the school. The amount of money left on my card stems from a bigger problem, which is Lackmann in general. I have reached my limit with them. I cannot stand the lack of food choices, the ridiculous prices, the nasty attitudes, the poor quality of the food and their catering services.

The food choices at the Kiosk, the Spotlight and Café 101 are poor and limited. There are very few options for vegetarians and other students that have dietary issues. Lackmann claims they have options for these students, but I don't consider salad and one or two special meals as sufficient.

The four or five kosher meals that are there everyday are not appetizing and even if they were, there aren't enough meals to feed all the kids eat only kosher foods. Most of the food options are high in fat and calories. There are no low calorie options for students watching their weight. The food is extremely repetitive and the one or two things I actually like are only made once in a blue moon. I have filled out tons of Lackmann surveys and I'm still waiting to see the results of this effort.

Even though I'm just swiping my card and I'm not using cash, I still cringe when I hear my total. $2.50 for one cup of cereal, when you can buy an entire box in a grocery store for only 50 cents to $1 more. I recently put two tiny pieces of food in one of those giant salad bar containers and the total came out to $2 and change. I freaked out.

Over $2 for two bites of food is completely insane! I decided to just weigh the container to see how much the container cost me. The container with nothing in it was 70 cents. 70 cents for air! Oh and if you want an extra container they will charge you 40 cents. Nothing in this University is ever free.
