It is about time. Pace finally gave us free things that we can actually use. We here at The Pace Press love our Pace Starter Kit.
First note that the Pace signature print on the laptop bag can almost pass for Gucci. The laptop itself is unbelievable. We are so glad that Pace chose Hewlett Packard laptops instead of Dell because HP not only has mp3 players, but CD and DVD burners. We were so impressed with the new PDA it comes with that we here at the paper threw out our Pace planners. It is also cool that we can use the wireless Internet not only on campus, but anywhere we take our PDA and laptops. That's not it for the goodies in the starter kit.
The second best thing in the bag is the student metro card. Just the other day we were complaining because students who attend St. John's University have student metro cards and we did not. Now we do too! This saves the average commuter at least $70 a month and can now come back to campus for events at no extra expense. Not only can we use the metro card during the school semester but even when school is not in session. If you dig a little further in the bag you will find many cards that will get you far in your Pace experience.
Pace yourself, there is an improved Pace Higher One card with 1,000 meal points. You can use it in not only Spotlight Café and Café 101, but also in any restaurant you choose in Manhattan. Now you can even use you meal points at the Friday's, which is blocks away from the Midtown campus. The money doesn't stop there.
There is also a $500 Barnes & Nobles gift card. Since students were complaining about the Pace bookstore not having the books they needed, the card is good at any Barnes & Noble and even online. The card renews itself every semester you are registered. Forget about the $250 that Tap gives to NY residents. Now you can buy new books too!
Pace also gave us a $1,000 gift card to J&R. Now we can afford to buy any CD and attend any concert we choose before The Pace Press reviews it. Speaking of cards, check out the card in the hidden pocket of the laptop bag.
It is a fake ID. It even swipes! This is a must to get you started in your Pace experience. Now you can go to other bars besides the ones at the Seaport, Fantasia and Ryan's. It even swipes at major nightclubs like Webster Hall, Go, and NV's.
We at The Pace Press thank President Caputo who decided to take money out of the academic budget just so we could have a better experience here. Thank you for noticing that we need these things so much more than better professors. What a great idea! Go to the eighteenth floor and get yours today!
