Mayor's Alliance makes strides to cure problems of abandoned animals

The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, Inc. is striving for the fair treatment of every animal in the city. There is an abundance of strays fighting to survive in New York. Too often, euthanasia is the ultimate solution and the end to the lives of many homeless cats and dogs.

Undergraduate enrollment increases by 24 percent

Rise in applications gives way to 34 percent increase in size of freshman class

The number of new undergraduate students has increaesd by 24 percent from last year's total enrollment of approximately 12,826 students. Robina Schepp, assistant vice president of marketing and communications, accredits the increase to the new efforts put forth by the enrollment staff and the University.

Declining SAT scores reach lowest point in 31 years

Over the past eight years, SAT scores have dropped significantly, hitting their lowest points in 31 years in 2006. In 1999, reports confirmed by College Board determined a five-point decline from the average score on the critical reading section and a two-point decline on the math section.

"I like the idea of linking the level of support that we're able to provide to young people going to college to the contributions they're going to make to our society," Romney told the AP.
