Indie band Bishop Allen recently concluded their month long tour at The Bell House in Brooklyn.

The show opened up with Darwin Deez, who are certainly not your typical opening band. Their Myspace.com page describes them as “indie rock with a side of calisthenics.” They would play a song, stop and dance in the middle of it or do some sort of creative group movement. It definitely kept the crowd interested and entertained.

Seattle based band Throw Me the Statue followed them with catchier songs. Although their name may be puzzling, their music was deliciously infectious with its strong, yet subtle guitar lines.

Bishop Allen finally came on the stage to a welcoming and antsy crowd. Their sound is catchy to the listener and their lyrics are packed with wit.

The band released their newest CD, Grr... in March, but they opened up with the song "Rain" from their older album The Broken String. They played many songs from The Broken String, along with others from previous albums and EPs.

Later that evening, lead singer and acoustic guitarist Justin Rice broke a guitar string mid-performance, but it did not phase them and they carried on.

The band members kept pulling out random instruments and switching them throughout the night. They even had a member of Darwin Deez come back on stage and play the mandolin with Bishop Allen member Christian Rudder.

With this being their last show of the tour, of course Bishop Allen came back to do an encore where they played another handful of songs for their fans.

They played such a rewarding performance. There's really nothing better than seeing something amazing like Bishop Allen perform live and witnessing it with a room full of people who appreciate it just as much as you.
