Everyone has his or her own style. People dress classy, preppy, dressy, casual, sporty, grungy or thug. Some are label-queens, while others couldn’t care less if it says D&G or Dee&Dee on the label of their clothing. With that said, I'm here to tell you what's in-style. Starting with the guys, because we all know that they need it most. But lately, I’ve seen some nicely dressed boys at Pace. For the guys right now, the vintage look is still alive. It is displayed extensively in the faded-denim-jean look. You can find them in brands like Diesel, Energie, G-Star, D&G, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Levis, Buffalo, Guess, and you would be surprised at the jeans you can find in the GAP sometimes. At Levis, you can also personalize your jeans. You can tell them how you want them, choosing from the choices that they provide you with, and TA DA-Your own creation. You can do this at their store, which is right by the Diesel store on Lexington Avenue and 60th Street. Big sunglasses look hot on guys, especially the ones with the clear lenses. Some brands to be on the lookout for are Christian Dior (i.e. Motard, Aviator, and Piercing), Gucci, Fendi, John Galliano, Channel, and Diesel. The hot shoes for guys are the ones with the entire sole of the shoe being connected, as opposed to having a heel (so ‘98!). Prada Sport shoes are a perfect example of this type of shoe, along with many other brands, which you can look for in a store called "Otto Tootsie Plohound". One of Toosie’s many locations is on West Broadway, off Prince Street, and only two stops away from campus on the N or R trains. Now commuters have something to do during their break between classes. Kangol hats made their way back in, especially the baseball and bucket styles. Designer monogram headwear, such as Gucci and Burberry, are big at the moment as well. But watch out for those fake, Canal-Street knock-offs! Denim jackets (especially faded ones) and Technomarine watches look awesome on guys as well! Girls get out there and pick up a pair of those pointy stilettos immediately! You can find them in any style (i.e. boots, mules, and sling-backs), suitable for almost any budget, from Jimmy Choo, Gucci, and Versace, to Steve Madden and Zara. The vintage look is on fire for girls as well, varying from faded and torn low-wasted jeans in brands such as Seven, D&G, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Jill Sanders, etc. to peasant shirts, which are shirts that have scrunched sleeves and/or waist and/or are off the shoulders. Those can be found in almost any store, from Saks Fifth Avenue to Joyce Leslie. The same hats that are hot for guys are also currently hot for girls, with the addition of the "J-Lo" hat, which would be the hat with the all-around big rim. Hats are huge- that is with the exception of the monogram Coach hat, which has become a vigorous cliché due to the fact that everyone and their mother are now wearing them as if they’re going out of style (which, might I add, I hope they are). Name-brand handbags and backpacks such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Fendi, Prada and Burberry are in high fashion for women. And of course, we can’t forget sunglasses. Big sunglasses are the way to protect yourself from that sun. Sunglasses are hot in many various colors, especially clear and mirror lenses. The brands to check out would be the same ones listed for the guys. So remember, no matter who you are or what your budget is, you can ALWAYS look your best!
